Debit Card Car Hire at Toronto Airport
Debit/Check cards are considered to be any non-credit card bearing the VISA, Mastercard® or Discover logo and are accepted at Corporate airport locations in Canada. Pre-paid cards or any other non-credit card without one of these logos are not accepted. Non-embossed cards are accepted.
Cash Rentals – Cash is not accepted at any location.
To use a Debit/Check card proof of a confirmed round-trip travel ticket (airline, cruise ship or train) must be presented. Travel dates on the round trip travel ticket must match the rental dates. Without proof of roundtrip ticket, debit or check cards are only accepted as a form of payment at the time of return. On one-way rentals, the renter must present proof of a confirmed travel ticket matching the pick-up and return locations (airline, cruise ship or train).
The name and address shown on the renter’s driver’s licence must match their current home address. Only US and International debit cards are accepted. Canadian debit cards are not accepted at the time of rental. Other than the renter’s spouse or domestic partner, no other additional drivers are allowed. If using a debit card for any amounts owed, the available funds in the account associated with the Renter’s debit card will be reduced by those amounts. Additionally, Renter is responsible for any overdraft fees incurred.
When paying a deposit by Debit Card, the following amounts are required:
• For Vouchered/E-Vouchered Rentals, the Renter must make a deposit with the Provider in the amount of $25/day or $100/week in addition to the estimated charges not covered by the Voucher/ E-Voucher. Some locations may restrict vehicle classes permitted with a debit card.
Please be aware that if you use your debit card for the security deposit and/or the fuel deposit it can take up to 30 days for this to reach your account once it has been refunded by the car hire supplier at the end of the rental. This is due to international banking systems not due to delays by either the car rental company or Clarify Car Hire.
Please note that payment for the rental or deposit via a mobile wallet such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay etc. will not be accepted at the hire desk. The lead driver must present a physical payment card in their name.
Diners, Pre-Paid (VISA / Mastercard), Electronic Use Card, any other type of card and cash will not be accepted.
The accepted cards listed above must be in the main driver’s name, have sufficient funds to cover the excess liability, and have an expiration date at least 2 months beyond the return date of the rental. All cards must have both the card number and expiry date clearly visible; cards without these details cannot be accepted. If a valid card is not provided, the booking may be cancelled, and no refund will be issued for any prepaid amount.
In the event that the original booking was paid for utilising a third-party credit or debit card, hirers may be required to present details, permissions and authorisation relating to the transaction. Failure to provide the information requested may result in the hire being refused.
