Which rental companies can offer debit card car hire at Thessaloniki airport?
On this page we have already selected this debit card payment filter so when you run a quote, only car hire packages which will accept a debit card will be shown. You will not be expected to have a credit card if the 'debit cards accepted' filter is on. You can also use any of the other filters we have to tailor your car rental to the one that you are looking for - whether that be a manual or automatic, or the size of the vehicle for example.
What can I expect from a debit card car rental at Thessaloniki airport?
You are just as important to us as a debit card hirer as anyone else so we expect you to receive the same high standard of customer care and for your rental car to in great condition. There will be terms imposed when you hire so do check these when you book. You should check that your debit card is acceptable - for example usually they must have embossed numbers and be attached to a bank account, not a prepaid or top up card. You will also have to have the physical card. Payments are not accepted using your phone. Some car hire companies will stipulate that you must buy their insurance to use your debit card. If this is the case then the package Clarify offers will already come with that additional insurance in your quote.

The driver is responsible upon receipt of the car to pay the amount of rent and any extras purchased on the spot.
The amount of the guarantee is blocked on a valid credit card or debit card of the driver or co-drivers mentioned in the contract. Please contact the local branch for clarifications.
At the pickup, the guarantee amount will be blocked to the renter's credit card or debit card and will not be available for use until the end of the rental (not debited from your account). It will be released by the cardholders bank after the end of the rental. It totally depends on the cardholders bank when the amount will be released.
Alamo are not responsible for any insufficient fund charges or bank fees related to this process.
Please be aware that if you use your debit card for the security deposit and/or the fuel deposit it can take up to 30 days for this to reach your account once it has been refunded by the car hire supplier at the end of the rental. This is due to international banking systems not due to delays by either the car hire company or Clarify Car Hire.
Please note that payment for the rental or deposit via a mobile wallet such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay etc. will not be accepted at the hire desk. The lead driver must present a physical payment card in their name.

If you choose to use a debit card, the deposit will be charged to your debit card - this means you will have to ensure there is sufficient money on the card to cover the deposit, and be aware that this will be unavailable until it is refunded. It can take longer to clear the money than a credit card with a period of 30 days being typical. This is due to the processes employed by banks rather than any delay from the hire company. Due to the period this can take we recommend considering taking Hertz's Full Insurance as most customers find this more convenient. Neither Hertz or Clarify Car Hire take any responsibility for a lower amount being refunded than was debited due to exchange rate fluctuations or bank charges.

Unless the Premium Package is taken a Visa, Mastercard Credit Card or AMEX is mandatory. The main driver must have a Card in their own name when collecting the vehicle. This card must have sufficient available credit to cover the excess / deposit amount (which will be pre-authorised on the Card throughout the hire period) which can take up to 30 days to be returned depending on the issuing bank of the card. Any local charges, extras or other equipment or services purchased at the car hire desk will also be charged to the card.
If the Premium Package is taken, you can use a Visa, Maestro or Mastercard debit card - you will be asked to leave details of your card on pickup. Please note, this deposit may take up to thirty (30) days to be returned to your debit card depending on the issuing bank of the card and neither OK Mobility nor Clarify Car Hire take any responsibility if the amount returned is not the same as the amount taken due to exchange rate fluctuations and/or bank charges. The card must be in the main driver's name. Any local charges, extras or other equipment or services purchased at the car hire desk will also be charged to the card.

American Express will only be accepted when Total Comfort (Just Go) or Total Comfort Premium product is purchased locally.
Total Comfort Premium product is not offered via Clarify. The contract holder has to be the main driver.
Debit cards, prepayment and Revolut cards, cash, smartphone/watch payments or bank transfers are not accepted.
The cardholder must be present when the rental agreement is signed. Only one card is permitted per rental agreement and must show the holder's name. The holder must know the card's PIN number and provide cc number and expiration date if requested. Payment cards must be in physical format.
The payer must ensure that the bank card has sufficient funds at the time of picking up the vehicle to pay for the rental with all the selected options, and, where applicable, to block or charge the pre-authorisation amount corresponding to the group of the rented vehicle.
