With several car hire companies at airport locations this could include having a return flight ticket so do have your flight number to hand when you are booking. You may also need to produce a second form of ID which could be a passport or proof of address. This needs to be confirmed with the car hire company.
When you hire a car you often need to leave a security deposit and sometimes a fuel deposit. These would both be debited from your debit card when you arrive at the desk. Any refunds will occur after your return and can sometimes take a few days with a debit card. If the rental firm requires you to take out their additional insurance as part of the terms of their debit card hire, this can mean that the security deposit is reduced.

Debit cards are accepted except for Full Size SUVs, Large Passenger Vans and Cars of the categories Elite, Full size, Premium, Luxury and Executive which will require a credit card. Renters with residence in the UK who wish to use a debit card will need to pass an online address check as verification of residence at their given address. Any customer failing the check will not be allowed to rent.
Airports Only - Debit cards are accepted at the time of rental with a round-trip plane ticket or flight itinerary that shows the renter's name and discloses the return date. Debit cards are not accepted from local customers. Local renters must present a valid credit card in the renter's name. If using a payment source registered outside of the United Kingdom, this location cannot be responsible for any fluctuations in the currency exchanges while the deposit is being held.
Please note, if you do not bring the correct documentation or you fail any check you will not be able to hire the vehicle. In these cases you will not be refunded the small deposit you paid Clarify Car Hire when booking the rental. You will not be liable for any further costs.
Please be aware that if you use your debit card for the security deposit and/or the fuel deposit it can take up to 30 days for this to reach your account once it has been refunded by the car hire supplier at the end of the rental. This is due to international banking systems not due to delays by either the car rental company or Clarify Car Hire.
Please note that payment for the rental or deposit via a mobile wallet such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay etc. will not be accepted at the hire desk. The lead driver must present a physical payment card in their name.
However, should a client only have a debit card, then a Relax Zero Excess protection package must be taken. There is no option to rent cars using a debit card from Drivalia without taking their Relax Zero insurance.
Cash payments, prepaid or virtual credit cards or cards without an embossed card number are not allowed under any circumstances. Payment cards that expire within two months of the end of the hire are not acceptable. Debit cards cannot be used for Luxury/Premium categories (EX/MX Groups).
All cards must be valid until at least the month after the rental and must be in the Lead Driver’s Name.
All hirers must hold a credit card with at least the excess amount available unless they successfully undertake a soft credit and risk check.
All local hirers (UK residents) who do not possess a credit card will also be subject to a soft credit and risk check. If a credit check is unattainable, the hirer must provide a minimum of two (2) months proof of employment proof i.e. payslips and 2 utility bills dated within three months of the hire.

Debit Cards are not accepted for payment of rental charges or pre-authorisation. Debit cards will be accepted as a preauthorization with the Premium Plus package only. American Express / Diners, Cash / Cheque, Prepaid, Virtual (Google or Apple Pay) and Electronic Use Cards are not accepted under any circumstances.
Failure to present a valid method of payment, or there is a lack of sufficient funds available on the Credit Card, or if the Credit Card expires within 2 months of hire return date, the car rental agent may refuse the release of the vehicle. In these cases you will not be refunded the small deposit you paid Clarify Car Hire when booking the rental. You will not be liable for any further costs.
